Our Story

The Square Wave was founded by Stephen Hunt, an award-winning social impact entrepreneur and former CEO of Music Health AI, UnLtd and MOOD, to close the gap between AI strategy and real-world capability.

Steve saw a pattern: businesses were investing in AI tools without preparing their people. Confidence was low. Literacy was patchy. Progress was slow.

So, he built The Square Wave to focus on what matters most: Human-centred AI transformation.

Kate Russell joined Square Wave after founding her own advisory focused on the people and culture side of AI adoption. With over 18 years’ experience in brand, leadership and culture transformations, Kate had been working with executive teams navigating the human impact of AI from psychological safety and confidence gaps to leadership alignment and behavioural standards.

She saw the same issue from a different angle: leaders were enthusiastic about AI, but unsure how to embed it responsibly and sustainably across their organisations.

Together, Stephen and Kate combine practical AI literacy with leadership and culture advisory to ensure AI adoption sticks.

Drawing on lessons from culture, innovation and education, The Square Wave helps organisation's build trust, competence and a shared understanding of what AI can really do. What can be measured can be managed so we leverage Squadify to guide change through the lens of the 3C's of Clarity, Competence and Climate.

To date, we have delivered transformation projects or trained individuals from forward-thinking organisations including Salesforce, Google, Adobe, Diageo, NSW Government, Snapchat and Westpac — helping them move from AI-curious to AI-confident.

Steve is an award-winning social impact entrepreneur best known for pioneering the use of AI technologies to improve humanity across a variety of industries. He was most recently the CEO of UnLtd and it's social enterprise arm MOOD with a focus on improving the lives of children and young people at-risk.

Kate Russell

Co-Founder & CEO

Kate is a brand, culture and leadership strategist with over 18 years’ experience leading transformation initiatives for global and Australian brands including lululemon, the Australian Fashion Council and Marketing agencies. She helps organisation's build AI-ready cultures by strengthening trust, leadership and capability.
